We all have one, whether its big or small and no matter what the size they always seem to be messy.
The following 6 tips to makeover your linen cupboard will enable you to gain more order and provide a much better system to find what you need when you need it.
(1) Pull everything out and place in seperate piles. Sorting by similar items eg all towels together, all single bed linen, blankets etc.
(2) Put aside anything that is torn, stained, mismatched or old. These can be donated to animal shelters like RSPCA.
(3) Then wipe out and vacuum the linen cupboard ready to restock.
(4) For every bed you have keep two sets of linen eg matching flat sheet, fitted sheet, pillowcases, duvet cover. That allows you to have a set in use and a spare set. This applies for towels too.
(5) Learn to fold fitted sheets properly and keep entire sheet sets together including pillow slips. Store like with like eg all towels folded and stacked together.
(6) Create a system that makes sense to you. Placing labels on the shelves can benefit and using baskets to keep piles in line is also a nice touch.
The major issue with linen cupboards is we tend to keep way more than we need. So it’s important to keep it in check by the ‘one in, one out’ rule. If you buy something new then you move something out. This ensures you only keep what you need.
